Vipers Sports Club has officially announced that it will not take part in the Uganda Premier League’s newly introduced format, citing disregard of its concerns and threats to the integrity of the competition.
In a strongly worded letter dated 2nd October 2025, club president Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa communicated to the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) and the Uganda Premier League Secretariat that Vipers will not feature, starting with the scheduled double-header fixture against Kitara FC on Saturday, 4th October 2025 at Namboole Stadium.

According to the club, FUFA failed to address key issues raised in earlier communications dated 23rd August, 23rd September, and 29th September 2025, as well as in meetings held with the federation.
Instead, Vipers says its concerns were met with ridicule, blackmail, and ostracization through mainstream and social media.
“We do not only find this unethical and disrespectful but also a total disregard of what we go through as a privately owned football club to raise football to the level we have done and still do,” the letter reads in part.
The club stressed that introducing the new league reforms in the 2025/26 season was “not timely and appropriate” and insisted that FUFA’s unilateral move posed an existential threat to Vipers SC as a football entity.
Dr. Mulindwa added that Vipers SC will use all legal and football-governing avenues to seek justice and protect its rights as a full member of FUFA. Copies of the communication were also sent to the Minister of Education and Sports, the National Council for Sports, Uganda Premier League management, sponsors, partners, and fans.
